Jebbeh is heavily pregnant. As her baby grows, her joy is overshadowed by fear. Recently, Jebbeh’s sister, Fatmata, was pregnant in a village nearby. Due to a chronic lack of healthcare, her sister had no choice but to walk for three hours, under the baking sun, to the nearest hospital to give birth. An installation of 150 baby grows is on display at St Martin in the Fields Church in London from 10-18 May. The display illustrates the stark reality that a woman is 150 times more likely to die in childbirth in Sierra Leone than in the UK.
